tinker_mel becoming a mod?

Hi everyone :D

I received a PM from tinker_mel asking to become a moderator. She only has 79 posts at the moment, but not all of them have been helpful.

She said that admin has already given her the green light.

What does everyone else think?

I agree with you,

She not all that experienced. The quality of her posts are not as helpful. I would suggest to wait until we see her helping out more!!

Hi all :)

The message board needs more Moderators

+ tinker_mel is a member of the message board since 23 Sep 2005.

I think that she would make a great Mod even with 75 threads.

Here is one of her thread: http://www.fanmail.biz/mboard/viewtopic ... 1973#91973

Hi everyone :D

I don't mind tinker_mel becoming a moderator, but I still need another opinion.

So, what does everyone else think? Thanks

P.S. What is the criteria regarding becoming a moderator? I was having a look at tinker_mel's website and there was a link to her forum for autograph collecting (now closed due to lack of interest) and some FAQ's for collecting. I think I remember reading in another post something about it being a criteria that you don't moderate on another autograph-related forum. Can someone help me here please? Thank you.

Hey guys {up}

tinker_mel also approached me asking about becoming a moderator, (before I saw this post), and I said I was OK with it.

The reason being is that we are still very short of Moderators (at least moderators who post on a consistently regular basis )

There are still dozens of post going unanswered every day, but with the visitor number dramatically increasing. My main reason for saying yes to Mel was because at this stage she could prove she was a competant member who was polite and helpful. Although she might not have a massive amount of experience, surely this is better than getting to the point of having to appoint much less professional / well equipped mods because we are so desperate :P

Of course, if it were not for the incredibly high quality of the vast majority of our moderators, then we would not be able to take on a less-experienced member, but if she does join us I know we will all be able to help her

With regard to the criteria (as far as I am aware!), a moderator has to have proven that they can post legible and helpful material (the number is not so important), and have been posting for a "reasonable" length of time, possibly 2 months or so?

You are right though nowandagain, as I understand it, in order to be a moderator, then you must not have direct involvement in another similar forum. As far as I can tell, tinker_mel has closed her forum, but it might be worth mentioning this clause before she is given the position?

Perhaps Admin can correct/confirm what I have said

Cheers!

Ian

Ok, thanks everyone for your opinion.

I haven't PM'd tinker_mel yet, but I'll do so now. If Ian and admin think she'll be a good moderator, I'll believe you :D

I'll also let her know about the forum issue.
