Stricter Junior Mod Application Criteria

Hey all

Not sure if I should be asking this, but I was just wondering if there is anyone else who feels the criteria to become a JM should be upped. Right now pretty much anyone with a desire to become one, becomes one.

I see quite a few JM's that don't seem to contribute much at all, and I was just wondering what other opinions were.

Its kind of a toss up here. There should be a strict criteria but then on the other hand it is very good training for future mods. All you have to do is just weed out the bad ones. LOL

Hmm. I think that the criteria should be upped. But as of right now, probably the best thing to do is to de-mod the ones who do not contribute at all, and let the ones who are actually helping out stay on the team.

As for regular members who want to become junior moderators, I think that there should be a set standard they need to reach, if that makes any sense

Definitely.

There are many Junior Moderators at the moment, but I feel that not all of them will become full Moderators. Some appear simply for the "status" rather than genuine moderators.

We are looking for genuine moderators, so it is a good time to work out some sort of criteria for picking new potential moderators to join our team.

[agree] Josie - it may be a good time to de-mod those who have been absent for a while, although there should also be some sort of criteria for that too (e.g. not posting for a set time).

My view is still the same:

No more moderators or junior moderators if there isn't a need.

Maybe some of you think it sounds unfair, but think of it: What are moderators supposed to do? If we do those things already, why should there be more? An over-crowded moderator team is never good. I know some of you would want "good, nice members" as moderators, but in my opinion that's not the really the thing. Good and very kind users can get another award instead (like another rank), not a moderator status, as it isn't a status...
