Quitting

Hi all

I don't want to be a moderator anymore... I don't agree with how things are done nowadays, everything was so much better when I started here, and became a mod. I think the forum is going downhill. I think the JM system is wierd and corrupt. I think the get-as-many-mods-as-possible-system is wrong. I think... Well, basically I think that things were so much better back in the older days...

So, as I don't quite like the situation right now I don't want to be a part of the team any longer.

This is nothing personal against any of you mods, I like many of you (you know who you are), and nothing personal against you either admin. And therefore I don't want to become unfriends with you. I hope you're able to accept how I feel and the situation :)

I hope I was of some use during my time ;) And I hope that you guys will be able to improve the forums and make them to a better and funnier place - as things were before!

Bye!

(Not bye from Fanmail.biz, I'm still around, just bye from the mod squad ;))

Hi Volante {up}

I am really sorry to hear you have decided to leave . . . . and on my first day back!

Seriously, I too acknowledge things have not been going too smoothly recently. I might not have been on the forum much, but my inbox was still in full working order :lol:

Please bear with us. I am not saying things are going to change overnight, but our full moderators are our strongest asset, and I would not like to see things go bad for want of a bit of discussion . . .

The vast majority of our moderators do a fantastic job and keep the forums running smoothly, and I for one will not accept any messing about by our trainees/juniors as this just reflects badly on the forum as a whole.

I still sincerely believe that FanMail.biz is the best autograph website in existence, and Admin and I will do everything we can to protect that position.

Please get in contact with me either via PM or email: ian@fanmail.biz if you have any issues you would like to discuss.

Thanks to you all for your continued support {thumb2}

Ian :mrgreen:

All I can say is that you were a great help, and you'll be missed. I don't blame you for wanting to quit, I know that some members & some situations have made me feel the same.

Hi again {up}

I have suggested a few things to Admin which I feel might help overcome the recent problems, and I will be in touch again with you all once I have had a chance to chat them over properly.

I don't think the Junior Moderator scheme is wrong, I just feel it should be more closely monitored, and I hope my suggestions will provide a solution to the current unrest.

I agree 1000%

Thank you for your help Volante! You shouldn't leave just yet though!

This definitely needs to be taken as a lesson learned. I agree wholeheartedly with Volante on several serious issues. The JM system is very, very broken in the way it operates currently. I hope I speak for most of us when I say I don't appreciate not having my vote counted in the JM polls when my vote can be overriden by a Global Mods poll, just because of some non-existant "desperate need for moderators" (no offense to any of these new moderators who were voted in with this scenario...it's definitely nothing personal against any of you...my issue is with the vote itself). And my biggest problem with that is being asked my opinion and then throwing it out the window, but still being forced into moderating with someone that I felt wasn't ready to become a moderator in the first place.

I think it's long overdue that these kinds of issues be addressed and taken care of. I'm hoping like crazy that Ian has some awesome ideas coming down the pipe to help out ;-) ;-)! But in all seriousness, it's so much of a hit to the site to lose an experienced, helpful, knowledgable, respectful moderator than it is to bring in droves of inexperienced, title-seeking moderators. I completely understand where Volante is coming from...I've had a lot of frustration over problems not being addressed and I hope that will change with Ian's return (haha...no pressure there Ian :P).

I definitely don't want to see you leave Volante. I certainly don't think we lack moderators... :roll: especially when at least 1 or 2 of us are active everyday. I am one of the new moderators who was voted by global mods instead of the normal moderators to join. :neutral: I was kind of shocked at that time, as I know I didn't have enough experience, all I do is just logging on all the time :lol: The problem now is that we have too many JMs and that it is like looking after 8 kids with only 2 hands (Believe me, I have had that experience :lol: ) So, I truly do believe that we already have enough moderators, but I never want to lose a great member in a team. So, please, don't leave the mod team! 8)

Thanks for your kind words everyone. :)

But still, I've pretty much made my decision :(

It's great to have you back though, Ian, I'm sure some things will improve because of this!

I totally agree with you Carmelo15 :). And I really hope that you aren't offended by what I said about the voting process. I am just very frustrated by the procedure. You're a HUGE asset to the "mod squad" (every time I type that I giggle :lol:).

Let's hope that these issues get resolved so that we don't lose any more moderators {up}.
