I was reading through the posts in Forum Ideas on this topic and I am for it. But I believe that the responses in Feedback about authenticity (whether they want it or not) are important to those that want to write to that celebrity. If someone posts a preprint as authentic, and other collectors go off of that and write, they're not only wasting their stamps, but setting themselves up for disappointment. Those authenticity replies are for the benefit of all collectors on Fanmail.biz, not just those that got the autograph. If a little kid has just enough postage for one letter and SASE and they can write to one of their 2 favorite celebrities, and their second favorite sends authentics all the time, and their favorite sends PP's or AP's they're going to write to the second favorite. Unless a collector posts one of those PPs or AP's as authentic, in which case, that kid is going to robbed of an authentic autograph because none of us said anything. I feel it's the duty of the TMs, Mods, and AE's to prevent disappointments such as these. Just look at all the people that say I'm going to need to write to this person when somebody posts a fake as authentic. It's no surprise that most of the Fanmail.biz isn't old enough to legally hold a job in many areas of the US. They can only afford so many stamps a year, and it's our duty to make sure that those stamps aren't wasted on chasing a dream that's never going to come true.

That's just one person's opinion. Anyone else have one on this topic?

I agree, but the problem is a lot of the members are young/teenage and are often in denial about these things, and even when concrete proof is given - like a scan of another PP proving its PP - they will deny it and start an argument saying its real blah blah, and come out with ridiculous things like "That other one might be PP but mine might be the original" (yes, thats been used on here before).

It would only work if people are willing to accept the truth, the problem is, most aren't :neutral:

Essentially, it's a great idea...a place where people can express views on authentic/or non authentic autographs, and suggest where to write to, to get an authentic one.

However, it could be the source of many an argument about authenticity. And arguments can often get personal and out of hand.

That's my balancing argument thrown into the suggestion pot! {thumb2}

Andy316, whosurdaddy, jasonw, dgangel, Dallas_S, lady rose have all volunteered so thats 6, more than I thought LOL
