As you all know, I started the Autograph Sale/Exchange thread Rules section a month or so back. I think that system has worked quite effectively, for the time being and we are controlling fakes and sales that are happening in that section.

It light of the recent clash of mods, which is a stupid clash, but a clash none-the-less, I have come up with another idea . I need the support of all the moderators on this though, especially the VV moderators

There have been a number of "too-amazing-to-be-true" successes. A member, hockeyfan1994 is under suspicion of passing off "bought" autographs as "VV Autographs". Suspicion but not concluded. I feel that the VV section needs something.

I feel that the VV section should have a new set of rules. I have devised a list as follows and I wish for opinion of all mods. I can make the rules list and help manage it if you will.

RULES:
1. No success is to be posted without a picture of the envelope and the autograph...together (debatable)
2. No success is to be posted without the VV address and time of sent and received (exceptions applicable)
3. Please state authenticity clearly when posting the success

Thats just a short list, but it will prevent people from putting up mass successes like Jessica Biel and Hugh Jackman and claim them to be real. I don't believe him and frankly, him showing me the autograph in my hand with the envelope will only change my opinion.

Furthur rules can be added as needed. Atleast this way, we know that the autographs coming VV are really VV and that we can determine the authenticity that way through furthur analysis.

This will help Lizanne's new list of people who send authentics via venue as well because we don't have to waste time deliberating on every success.

It is just an idea. Admin, your word on this is also very important. Don't worry, we are not making changes to your board, just helping it so members can enjoy it alot more.

I think something is needed, but Im not sure it'd help. Its the same sort of thing for the feedback forum, people will still post fake successes, the only way to control it is delete+ban.

Envelopes COULD be enforced for the VV section, especially if the postmark is clearly visible. This (in theory) would remove a lot of doubt about some successes...

quite. If envelopes are enforced, we can see where the postmarks are from and then decifer if its fake or real. Banning and Deleting can always be done, but before that we can filter out those without envelope photos. Makes our life easier

Personally, I believe having the rules posted isn't going to change in terms of ensuring members posting the correct and necessary things. I still have MANY members (and ones that post often) in the 'add/request a vv address' forum that don't follow the rules that are provided and have to constantly remind them. Those rules aren't even asking much of them...if anything the mods on that board are doing a heck of a lot more trying to find those members the addresses. Anyways, members posting on the VV feedback should already know what's needed of them, including sent and receive dates, photos if possible, etc.
While I do agree with what needs to be done about the envelope, I still think if that does get inforced members like "hockeyfan1994" will be able to get by or end up saying they threw their envelope in the trash since it didn't have a return address.

I do respect you trying to help out the mods in the vv feedback section and they are all very good ideas, personally I just don't see it working. Of course, it never hurts to try out these things. It would definitely help Lizanne's list out too, I agree there!!

The only issue is, sometimes postmarks aren't very clear, or sometimes the post office seems to actually 'miss' postmarking an envelope (it happens sometimes).

Other than that, there should be more vigilance in terms of monitoring the successes posted, so that we may try and 'weed out' potential fakes.

The above suggestions are good, but won't solve the problems as anyone could simply just post any envelope or make up any dates etc.

Good idea! I'm so tired of people just posting the photo and not the envelope.
