Hiya guys
Long time no speak

In fact I think it is nearing a year since I have been on here properly/regularly.
However, today I was at a loose end I thought I would drop by and say hi

It is nice to see some of the 'old' names stilll here
Work has quietened down a bit at the moment, so I thought I would have a little look at how my beloved Fanmail.biz is going

My new iPod touch makes things much easier
So how are things going? Should I make the effort to come back and interfere a bit like in the good old days?

I am still actively collecting for charity, although I must admit I have become a little more selective as to what I am collecting . . . Smaller volumes of higher value stuff where possible!!!
But I suppose most importantly would you guys want me back?

Perhaps you can let me know
Ian

LOL Oh, Chrissy.
Nice to see you back, Ian!!! Hopefully you'll decide to stay awhile! Would be nice to see you around the boards once again and doing what you do best! I hope your charity collecting is coming along well. What kind of things are you collecting now, out of curiosity?
Take care,
Larisie

Hi guys
I am trying to come back a bit more now things are a bit quieter for me workwise.
Unfortunately the reasons I took a break from the site back in April '08 have not changed. I am passionate about collecting autographs and helping others do likewise - but I am not about to go back the incessant arguing which was commonplace a year ago.
I do sincerely appreciate the opportunity of being a part of this website, but I am not going to try to justify bad practices, or uphold wrong decisions. If am to be part of this site I will be always the one who says things
how they are.
I believe we are here to promote a friendly atmosphere amongst members. We can point out how best to collect our autographs, or from our experience whether they look authentic or not, but that does NEVER in any way mean we devalue the attemps many of our members have made to get their autographs.
If this hobby is to continue we need to have these youngsters involved. Yes, it can be annoying when they post a preprint as "authentic" in FEEDBACK, but surely it is better we 'educate' them gently so the next one they get will be the real deal. At the same time we need to make other members aware of our policy.
From my understanding, Fanmail.biz is a "family" autograph collecting website, and we need to make
all welcome.
Remember: Shout the congratulations, and whisper the commisserations
If you feel I am wrong, please let me know.
Ian

Ian you hit nail right on the head! I really wish the site would go back to how it was when I joined a few years ago. Maybe I didnt notice but there wasnt all the attitude being thrown around the forums. Everybody helped out when and where they could. Now it seems people just want the mod job just for the title and they continually abuse the position. I know most of us global mods and regular mods have tried our best to bring the site around but the odds are stacked way against us.

This will sound terribly lame, but ditto

Hi ozzman & ldy josie x
Great to see you are both still on here
I too would very much like to see a far more calm and ordered fanmail.biz

I know it won't always be sweetness and light on here, but I really do get tired of the continual "oh my God - don't you realise that is a fake" type of mentality.
When I first started collecting, I didn't want people telling me I was stupid. Yes I made mistakes, but the responses I got then were pretty-much always constructive. That's how I want the forum to be again . . .
Maybe I am looking for something that will not happen again, but my hope is that it will, and I think us senior mods should begin to comment on rude / damaging posts made by more junior moderators. If they then get all uptight, then demote them, that's what I say.
Waddya say Admin? I still haven't heard anything from you in almost a year!!!!
Ian

I completely agree. Maybe if we crack down harder we can weed them out.
