Not too amused, sent pic and a rather lengthy letter on 19/8 explaining about how obsessed my 6 yr old autistic son is with Dr Who. Today received the pre printed pic and standard office response. Will be trying again, my son would love a signed picture of the current Doctor. He already has one from David Tennant and Sylvester McCoy.

That's not very kind is it. Peter Davison is useless as well, Matt Smith is alright just takes ages. Tom Baker doesn't anymore either, I got mine before

If it's any use, I have a signed promo card from Peter up for grabs in my charity auctions just now. Check out my blog, linked in my signature or give me a shout if it's of interest. Bit sad your letter didn't get through to Peter, as I am sure he would have signed under the circumstances, obviously didn't get beyond a PA.

Thanks for the offer, I think I'll try again in a month or so. I think th bit that annoys me the most is the printed letter claiming Mr Capaldi has read your letter, when you know fine well it's been nowhere near him.

Good luck, some do get through :D

As for the letter... you just have to deal with that.. several send it, it's just the way of this game. If you think about it... the amount of mail he will be getting it right now means it's physically impossible for him to sit and read all the mail, sign the items AND film the show that is making everyone write to him.

I don't understand why some people get authentic sigs and even handdrawn stuff from him (very recently too) while some others just get a pp?? I think he should either sign for everyone or for nobody.

I have seen two successes with art... one was mine, which was for charity, which explains it. The other was art someone sent to him that they drew themselves, and Peter signed.

I firmly disagree with the other point, some get lucky, some don't. He's not the type of person to ignore people, and just because there are only occasional ones popping up here on this site, doesn't mean there aren't hundreds others out there getting replies. FM.biz is not the be all and end all of the world. If we all knew that we would get X or Y when we wrote to every celebrity, it would take the fun out of the hobby.

I'm sorry but I don't get the attitude that 'he should sign for everybody or nobody'. Why? He's a very busy man (I'll bet if we'd written to him a year or two ago we'd have no problem getting a pic!) but surely it's better that at least some things manage to make their way through (usually charity items) so he signs those. He's certainly under no obligation to sign anything at all (just because he's on our TV doesn't make him our property!).

I look at it this way, if I see on here that loads of people are writing to him (or anyone else) and 99% are getting PPs and I STILL choose to write anyway, I can't be too upset when I become one of the 99%, I'd know the risks!

End.

You're correct, he signed for fun prior to the DW announcement, with full signatures on everything. This included his time as Malcolm Tucker, his lead guest role in The Fires of Pompeii and everything else he did. Being the Doctor means you have your mail load increased a thousand fold. If he sat down to sign every letter that went his way, he wouldn't have time to film the very show that is causing the increase in the mail.
