Carolee Carmelo - Coolest & Most Unusual Success!!!

Sent: LOR, Scarlet Pimpernel: Version 3 (SP3) picture, Questionairre, SASE
To:
Mamma Mia!
c/o Winter Garden Theatre
1634 Broadway
New York, NY 10019

Received: JEKYLL & HYDE - das Musical Umbrella!, Questionairre, SP3 Photo returned

She sent me a really cool umbrella from what had to have been the world-renowned, critically acclaimed (one of the few) productions of Jekyll & Hyde from Bremen (Germany) (I was totally confused when I got this huge, long box with a return address from a Broadway Theatre!)

She said she had been reading my note, and said she was cleaning her attic out and saw the umbrella at that moment (and on the note wrote that "This is the moment" (One of Jekyll & Hyde's big songs), and sent it (and sent it priority mail!)

Anyone from previous successes of mine can tell I'm a big fan of the show (which actually opened 11 years ago, 5 days ago), and although she never performed the role, was seen on one of the concpet albums.

Here's the pictures:

Ms. Carmello's first big starring role was in the first ever national tour of Chess: The Musical, in 1992 after a short/unaffliated "revival" OFF-OFF Broadway, after an extremely unsuccessful run in New York starring Judy Kuhn in 1988. Carmello's voice caught the ear of FRANK WILDHORN, who asked her to be Lisa Carew (later changed to Emma for Broadway), Dr. Jekyll's fiance, on the concept recording. However, she never got to perform the role on stage. Her next 'major' "break" was landing the role of Marguerite, in Frank Wildhorn & Nan Knighton's THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL, in the third variation of the show, and the last of four to be seen on Broadway. Currently, and for the past year or so has been seen as a leading lady in the Broadway production of MAMMA MIA!.

What an AWESOME success! I have a signed Parade leaflet from her from about 10 years ago. She's great. And how sweet of her to send you such a cool souvenir. I'm jealous ;)
