Re: My one and only worst failure ever!!
Once you find out who has done this there may be a way to retrieve your photos. I was just reading in another post of a way to remove the writing. Are your photos glossy? If so here is a suggestion someone gave in another thread as to how to fix it. If they aren't glossy then I don't know what to suggest. Sorry . . .

Re: My one and only worst failure ever!!
That's really shocking. I hope the culprit gets discovered and severely penalised for it, if not fired. It's so unprofessional.
Sorry about that
and I'm glad you contacted this lady who sounds like she'll do something about it. That was definitely the right thing to do.
Sorry about that

Re: My one and only worst failure ever!!
are there any other examples people can post up of similar rude responses they have recieved?
It would be interesting to see them.
At the end of the day they have no responsibility of what you send them and do not have to accept the responsibility of anything you send, so if they did give any kind of apology in the form of money for the postage or pictures it is really beyond what they should do.
For example I sent someone a tour programme I had to be signed by a band for my girlfriend's birthday, as they were working in charge at the venue and said they were sure they could get it signed, but they have now all of a sudden not managed to get anything signed (with no reason whatsoever as to why) and 'misplaced' my personal tour programme that cost me £10, plus it's sentimental value that can't be replaced (and that the guy assured would be looked after).
To me it's pretty obvious from his vagueness that the guy has nicked it and I feel foolish for believing that they would get it signed, but I'm not exactly in the position to accuse them of theiving or having a go at them for 'misplacing' it as it's not their responsibilty to look after it.
It just really gets you down though that people can stoop so low
And technically anything (I'm pretty sure it's a law in the UK) that you recieve in the post you are entitled to keep, which means even if you got your neighbours post you could by law keep it.

That is so bad that he kept it, If it was me id be so over run by guilt. The thought of having my letter taken the mick off makes me worry, I dont put notes I write a small page about how great I think they are etc.
Id be interested to see other bad experiences too, seems interesting.

Re: My one and only worst failure ever!!
Other posters have touched on it, but we're sending unsolicited mail to these people and they legally aren't required to replace anything.nightowl wrote:An apology isn't enough! They should be paying you the cost of the damaged photos! Most definitely! Anything less is unacceptable.
I would ask their boss to require them to pay for deliberately damaging private property. This behaviour is beyond unacceptable at any company. They should be fired on the spot. It shouldn't be too hard for them to determine who did it by comparing their writing to your photos.
On the other hand, it's illegal (at least in the States) to open someone else's mail without the permission of the receiver, so they have technically committed a federal offense, but I seriously doubt anything will be done about it.
