Wicked playbill success

Unread post by daniel.chance »

Hi, I haven't made a post in a while (any posts from danielchance are mine, BTW) Anyway, I have had a great week for autographs- Mel Brooks, George Lucas, Jeremy Sumpter, and my favorite, and most heartfelt - Wicked!
I sent a letter to the Wicked Via Venue address (you can see it at other successes) around the same week as Obama took the oath of office. I sent the most dedicated, longest, and easiest letter I have ever probably written. On the front, I drew Elphaba, then on the back, I drew the Oz symbol and colored it in with the Oz colors (blue, Red, green, and yellow) and a flying monkey.
This week, on Feb. 6, my mail lady pulled up my driveway to give my mom her package. While she flipped out our mail from her bin, I noticed one was a manila envelope with "Wicked" on it. I thought, "It might be someone else's, don't get excited" But she pulled it out and handed it to me! I was so excited, the mail lady got happy.
Needless to say, I rushed into the house and tore open the envelope.
Inside, I found a warm letter that mentioned some of the things I wrote about (like how much I like Defying Gravity, and they said my appreciation keeps them "defying gravity" and they said they were excited I was reading Wicked.)
The letter said they were going to pass my note around the whole cast, but I don;t know if that is something they always say- But then, I don't know if they send letters with every thing they send out.
But the best part is still to come. Inside, I found a SIGNED WICKED PLAYBILL!
My heart nearly skipped a beat!
I soon found most of the signatures:
Marcie Dodd- Elphaba
Alli Mauzey- Glinda
PJ Benjamin- The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
Alex Brightman- Boq
Timothy Britten Parker- Dr. Dilliamond
Jayne Houdyshell- Madame Morrible
Brynn O'Malley- Nessarose
I am so excited about this, as I am an Oz fanatic! I was afraid I wouldn't get this, since I found out on Movie Eye that it was a via venue address which had already gone bad when I sent it. But, I did get it back, but it was a different address. Either way, I am very happy!
It's kinda a coincidence that I got this, as we are reading Romeo and Juliet out loud like a play in my Language Arts class.
Thanks fanmail topic posters!!!!
Next I'm going to try to get Spamalot, any help with that?

That's such an awesome success! I love Wicked, it's the broadway show I've seen the most of, I've gone to see it 4 times and I'm going again.

Do you know what address it came from? I would totally love to write them and the book is also great.

I got mine from
Gershwin Theatre
222 West 51st Street
New York, NY 10019

But my return address was
Wicked, LLC
321 West 44th Street-Suite 801
NY, NY 10036

try the top one first, I think it may still be good!
Good Luck!

Yes, send all requests to the GERSWHIN THEATRE in New York. They will almost always take the mail virtually across the street to the fanmail office, as I'm not positive if the fanmail office actually is able to RECEIVE mail. All mail is infact answered from the Gershwin to begin with...

Wicked is still running (and greatly especially during this bad economic times, on top of it the dead winter New York tourist season!), so the address should be good through reportedly next Thanksgiving I believe they are selling tickets to.

Unfortunately, the SPAMALOT Broadway run has concluded (As did the West End & Las Vegas productions); some of the Broadway members joined the national tour, so you may be able to get some of them through the tour. Unfortunately, most tours do not carry around cast-signed playbills, so I wouldn't even attempt at that..!

Good Luck & Great success!
WONDERLAND:Alice's New Musical Adventure enjoyed a short, but sweet run on Broadway in Spring of 2011!

oh, that's a shame! I really love Monty Python... I wonder if I could get someone to sell me one of theirs somewhere...
