Matthew Risch began in November of 2008 as an understudy for the title role of Pal Joey, but when star Christian Hoff suddenly became "injured" Matthew was bumped up to full-time Joey. Previous credits include: 'Chicago' (including during Usher's run in it), and Legally Blonde: The Musical (which originated the role of Carlos, and understudied Warner & the UPS Guy, and stayed with the show until about August-ish!).
Very talented guy and nice to see someone get "bumped up" like he did. Hopefully I'll get a chance to meet him if I get up to see Pal Joey ag!
Pal Joey at Studio 54 (also starring Martha Plimpton & Stockard CHanning (Grease the movie, among other credits!) is open until Sunday, March 1.
