Perfect Crime success

I sent a letter and SAE with US Stamps on to the Stage Manager on: 15th June 2009, and today I recieved this signed booklet/playbill back. It's nothing like any playbills, I've seen/had before.

"Perfect Crime" has been running for years/the stage manager is like .. the cast. I cannot believe you actually wrote to this one -- I can ONLY imagine what you wrote in this letter. SEriuosly.

And I thought Tin Pan Alley Rag was an obsure one for you to write to. Perfect Crime? Really? I can understand writing to off-Broadway shows like Distracted and Dead Man's Cell Phone - shows with big stars/limited runs, but there could be no legitimate reason why you would want Perfect Crime's playbill. I really would love to see what you wrote in your letter to them.

Next you'll be writing to Tony'n'Tina's Wedding asking for a cast-signed playbill - unless of course you already have.

As for there being no legitimate reason why he wants the playbill, that is nothing more than an unfounded assumption.

What there IS no legitimate reason for is for you to be mean to him about it.

Hi Chewie. Thankyou for stepping in, but it has been taken care of.

I have no problem with him wanting to spam all MAJOR productions (Off-Broadway & Broadway), but it makes NO sense why anyone would write to an Off-Off-Broadway production - it is the same as writing to your little theatre in your own town...

Again, it has been resolved, not sure why you felt the need to bump this ... .

I'm actively involved in acting/theatre at my high school, and take a great interest in learning about various plays that have been performed. It just so happens that my favorite genre is the same as that of Perfect Crime. There aren't very many plays on Broadway (at least currently) that are the same genre. Therefore, I feel that if I wanted to send a letter to the cast of Perfect Crime myself, that I would be entitled to do so. My favorite play in general happens to be Our Town, which is currently an off-Broadway production. If I wanted to write to the cast of Our Town, what would the problem be???

As far as why I "felt the need to bump this": It is the first time I've read this topic and wasn't aware that it is a crime to voice my opinion on a topic that's not even three days old...

No, 'Perfect Crime' is "Off-Off-Broadway."

The system is divided by the number of seats, potential highest ticket price /etc.

Broadway - Has to be ATLEAST 500 Seats (Helen Hayes is just over 500, smallest theatre technically Broadway - where 39 Steps is. Just saw it - it's VERY small in there! The Gershwin is the largest..I think it's 1400 seats? Followed by the Palace & The Imperial - ironically these are three of the four MAJOR constant sellouts!). Prices are usually $95 - $135 (but going up again)

Off-Broadway - I think its 250-500 seats. Tickets are $60 - $95 (usually $75).

Off-Off-Broadway - 80 (I think this is the number for a legitimate theatre) - 250. Prices anywhere from $15 - $55.


Perfect Crime (my parents actually saw it on a whim) is heavily discounted always and never usually has a large crowd. I don't know the specifications of the theatre, but I can guarantee you that there is no mezzanine and hardly any attendance at this show, besides tourists who get $20 discounted seats or students of the lead actress. The show has been running for 20 years -- because it is in such a small theatre there is little rent/etc.

It is Off-Off-Broadway....doesn't matter about the address. The Al Hirschfeld is .. practically not in the theatre district as it crosses over 8th Ave, and although this is on the street Broadway, it's not on Broadway.

I have no problem with OFF-BROADWAY. The problem is, Shaun has no CLUE what this is about /etc.,

and NEITHER DID YOU before you looked it up to try to prove a point here. I guarantee you had no idea about ... the only way you would would be talking to the people at TKTS in New York, NY. Honeslty - there is NO advertising for this show, I mean I don't even think it has a website? It's VERY underground New York / goes unnoticed.....
