Helen Mirren charity failure!!

I sent a charity letter, flyer, and SAE to Helen on: 29th June 2009, and today I recieved my flyer back signed, but she has wrote For Cancer Research UK on it, no one will buy it, if it has that on, so I'm a bit

I am not criticising in anyway, just theorising as to why she signed the flyer like this. Do you think it may have been due to the charity request being so soon after your personal request to her, and Dame Helen recognising you and putting 2 and 2 together to make 5? I have only seen responses like that in the past when a celeb thinks they are responding to a dealer and they have a bee in their bonnet about such things.

Why on earth is that a failure? She signed it and even wrote which charity, I'm not seeing the problem.

It's not a failure as such, but defeating the purpose of the request. The autograph was requested by Shaun to raise money for charity, but it would raise more money for the charity and be easier to sell had it not been dedicated like this.

It's not such a bad thing - the 'thank you!' is a really personal touch. If they like it, someone will buy, dedication or no dedication.
