James Franco Success! Authentic?

Unread post by OCDianaOC »

Sent a letter, 2 photos, and SASE to the "Howl" movie set on March 13th, 2009. I did not receive my photos back; however, I did get an 8 x 10 autographed photo from his management in my SASE. I guess his fanmail got forwarded to his management company...

The return address was:

James/Levy/Jacobson Management, Inc.
3500 West Olive Avenue
Suite 1470
Burbank, CA 91505

Received October 8, 2009. Long wait!

I'm not sure if it's authentic though. It doesn't match up with the others I've seen.

Looks like it could be good to me. I always go on Ebay and check out PSA/DNA or JSA authenticated sigs and compare it to those. I'm on the fence on this one. Looks like a full sig rather than a rush job. Tough to tell though.

Hi OCDianaOC! ;-)

Congratulations on your feedback nonetheless. {thumb2} Unfortunately, I have to agree with the above posters, it is a better attempt at forging his signature than others I have seen (like those horrible ones from the "Milk" venue, which also got forwarded to his agency), but it just looks too "squashed in", if you what I mean... I've been studying his autographs very carefully for a long time now, and here's authentic in person examples from AutographWorld.com:

The above are examples of his full signature, which he doesn't sign too often, but he still does (I got a full one last month, which I'll show later). {up}

However, in person or when he is in a rush, he signs "JFno", which looks like this (also AW):

Now, from the above, that's where you can see the differences: the "F" looks very different, and the "no" (the scribble) is too curly, whereas James's lines are much more "sharp". To be honest, the autograph on your photo looks like a female's handwriting, it is very loopy and curly, unlike James's more sharper lines and "spread out" signature. :(

For futher comparisons, you can compare to my success from James (which I got via "Eat, Pray, Love" movie set in NY, my SASE had the film's return address and not his agency's). It was mailed out on 14 August, which I believe was his last day on set in NY, I just got it very late because of a postal strike in South Africa. But it is authentic, it is James's own handwriting and you'll note that the autograph on the back matches exactly to the "Freaks and Geeks" cast photo's signature. {up} You can try and compare certain letters and characteristics of his writing to yours also.

However, I believe it could be secretarial, as James is filming in Ireland now ("Your Highness") and his agency has forged his signature before, and to tell the truth Walnuts's example is not squashed in, it is (presumely, although I only trust AutographWorld) authentic, but honestly does not look like yours for the same reasons I stated above. :cry:

Anyways, I hope all this pics help and you have the autograph yourself, so you'll be able to compare the best - I just tried to help you on this but you may make your own conclusions from the above info I posted for you. {thumb2} Congrats on getting a response nevertheless, but if you do want to try James again VV, I have the address for "Your Highness". :)

Regards & good luck!! :D
