Sent a letter and SASE to the cast of Jersey Boys on 7/6/10 to:

Cast of Jersey Boys
attn: Stage Manager
August Wilson Theatre
245 W. 52nd Street
New York, NY 10019

Received the following letter in the mail on 7/26/10 stating that if I send a donation of $25 they will send me a signed playbill. I hadn't seen any success before so I figured this was a longshot. I may resend with the donation, but I feel like the price is a bit steep... I would gladly pay $10-15 to get one. :?

Anyway, I guess it was nice of them to reply in any form... it's still one of my favorite shows.

They have an Ebay account specifically for that charity that sells Playbills. I get them from time to time but $25 is a lot for a Playbill without a big name in the cast.

Love the thought of putting a helpful, generous spin on autograph requests, but it's the "suggested" donation that bothers me. People should be free to donate however much they choose or can afford :?

I would send them something like your original letter and attach the "I hear it is preferred to send donations, so I would like to donate X." I'd try to donate for $15, I would think they would take the $15. Deceiving doing it this way, yes, but it is a "suggested price." Just don't be rude and be grateful!
