Sent: February 16, 2010 to the Vampire Diaries set address.
Received: September 30, 2010
I sent Nina a letter, two photos, and a SASE.
Today, I received my photos back with what looks like to be a "stamped" (maybe autopen?) autograph/inscription.
Looks like she's been receiving too much fan mail to respond back to us herself

You would be surprised. The show even has a following here. I dare say someone high up in the show came up with this, not only to help her,but also to help the people who help sort the fanmail.

Popularity and signing autographs isn't something that always goes hand-in-hand though. Though, yeah, I can't imagine her being "that popular" either.

I think it not so much popularity as well, more who is a fan. Anything vampire related is likely to attract the type of fans who like collecting autographs.

That's a good point. Even though Vampire Diaries has very few viewers, I'd imagine a lot of them compose of teenagers/young adults who are more likely to write fanmail and ask for autographs, so they may end up with more mail than other shows which don't have that type of fans.
