Paul Rudd via venue success
Sent a letter, SASE, 8x10 and 5x7 to the set of "This is Forty" on June 30, 2011. I received both photos back signed and personalized within the last two weeks (don't have an exact date). I'm unsure if the address is still valid, but I'm not spreading it around anyway. I'm posting this success not to brag, but so that people that do their research know there is a possibility of success from this film.

I'm sorry, but I do not pass around my via venue addresses. I post the successes to show that there is an address available out there that works. Please do not request via venue addresses from me. Thank you!
I am always open to discussion on the authenticity of my successes.

Re: Paul Rudd via venue success
Whilst I congratulate you on your success, this rather odeous notion of ''researching'' is begginning to creep in to the board. For starters, it is highly pretencious to consider googling for an address ''research''. Secondly, most people on the board have friends/families/jobs/studies, and simply do not have time to spare googling around in the vain hope of finding an addy. This does not make them lesser collectors as some seem to be implying. By all means, if you don't wish to post an address, you are most likely doing the right thing. But this ''research'' sumgness really grinds my gears. Rant over lol.

That's great. I don't think I've heard of a VV success for him before -- could be wrong though.

Well, kudos to you for finding the address, because it's pretty dang hard to find. Searched for it for over an hour last week to no avail. I've been a longtime Paul Rudd fan, so congrats on that!

Re: Paul Rudd via venue success
First off, that is a great success, Cory. I think this proves something as well: if an address is not made easily available to everyone, then there is a better chance at getting a success. I didn't get Paul Rudd through The Perks of Being a Wallflower for a reason...
Second off, Paul Rudd has signed VV before. When he did Three Days of Rain on Broadway (with Julia Roberts and Bradley Cooper) a few years ago, he signed a ton. He's not impossible, but if you really want him, I'd do your research early, and send to the set because you want him (sometimes it does get irritating to read about people only wanting to write after someone gets a success). This is not to imply that the This is Forty set address is easy to find (it isn't, but possible). I'm just saying that if you don't get Rudd through one venue, try him again later.
Lastly, I think it is wrong to imply that everyone's search method is only based on google. There are people out there that subscribe to The Hollywood Reporter specifically to get addresses that are not plastered online. If you really wanted to pay the extra cash for venue addresses, subscribe to Production Weekly or Production Alert. They tend to have addresses that are not blasted online. Also, some people call a production assistant in order to gain the production address. There are various methods, but obviously the google ones are the easiest to find and also yield the lowest results (mainly because the addresses tend to get spammed).
Also, I can understand when someone is willing to pay for their research or put in the actual work of persuading a production assistant into giving out the address (which is sometimes very difficult, and when they do, they sometimes make you swear not to share the address) that they'd be hesitant to readily share the information...

@ tomperrottafan:
When I first joined this forum, two members (not sure if they're banned or went back into the woodwork), said the exact same thing you did about not posting production addresses; if they have big-name stars they'll get spammed. But the thing is, they acted snotty and tried baiting me. You took a more respectful approach; those two almost made me not want to come back here because of their attitude.

I would love to subscribe to services like Production Weekly and Production Alert, but I am a student and can't afford to pay between $400 and $660 for a year long subscription. Not everyone has the money to do that, unfortunately.
