I sent SASEs to Matchbox 20 and The Goo Goo Dolls yesterday, so hopefully I have success like you did! I sent VV to Charleston Civic Center, WV, though.

Congrats!

Question, what's the rule of thumb sending VV? I sent a request last year to Slipknot 1 week before and didnt receive anything back. Therefore, do you try and time it out the day of the show? Thank you! Congrats on your success!

I'm no expert-- these I've sent are my 3rd and 4th, and my first ones ever sent to a band venue, BUT:

1) I'd advise you to check this list for venues that do/ don't pass on fan mail to the bands' managers, promoters, etc: http://www.fanmail.biz/mboard/viewtopic ... 25&t=24711

2) Check this list to see if the band you're sending to made the list of bands that do/don't sign fan mail VV. It's not a comprehensive list, but it's a start: http://www.fanmail.biz/mboard/viewtopic ... 4&t=218785

3) When sending to multiple bands at one venue, always use separate envelopes for each band. That means you will need two envelopes, two pictures/ cd inserts/ whatever-else-you're-sending, two LORs and, two SASEs.

4) I would try to contact the venue ahead of time by e-mail or by phone to see if they pass on fan mail IF you don't see your venue on the link above (1).

5) Try to send everything at least a week in advance (domestically.) You will need to send a bit more beforehand for international shipments.

6) Bands may sign at the venue or later. You may get your photos back signed a week later or months later. You may never get it back. It's always a toss-up.

Hope I've been of some help!

Congrats on your success!

Sometimes everyone signs, other times not. I have a Chicago success that was signed by every member of the band except for Robert Lamm. And Walter Parazaider actually signed it twice. I think what happened there - was the tour manager got them all to sign, lost track of who did and didn't, counted the number of sigs and assumed he got them all. lol.

Either way though - Matchbox is great to their fans. Enjoy your success!

Hi pclemons22 :)

Thank you for your feedback {up}

Would you have a scan of the envelope you received please?
If so, you are in the run for the $10 gift certificate.
