Alanis Morissette Failure

I sent a cd booklet and SASE on 1-30-08 for her show with Matchbox 20 at the Palace of Auburn Hills on 2-2-08.

Today (2-9-08), I received the cd booklet unsigned in my SASE with nothing else. This is strange because it's usually a RTS or no response unless it is a success.

What is also odd is that it is postmarked 2-7-08 from Royal Oak, MI, which is where I live. Do post offices sometimes postmark incoming mail that has not been postmarked already??

Nevertheless, I think Alanis should take a cue from Amy Lee when it comes to signing if she wants to cultivate a stronger, rather than eroding, fan base in anticipation of her upcoming release. She is certainly vulnerable to being dropped from her label as Jewel recently was.

The same thing happened to me. I sent Miley Cyrus a VV request to an arena in Jacksonville and the venue sent me back my photo unsigned in my SASE. I think it's weird... the venue is technically opening someone else's mail. They should forward it to them, or if they can't, make it a RTS.

But it could have been her people that did that. Whatever, it is a strange choice to open it. What would they have thought was inside???

That's true. Only reason I know it was the venue for me was because they put a post-it note on the picture saying "Sorry, tour left already"
