Avenue Q, originally appearing off-Broadway, made a success transfer to the Big White Way and opened on July 31, 2003. Upsetting the front-runner WICKED, The Q won the Tony Award in 2004 for Best Musical. The show has been called "the adult Sesame place," for it's use of puppets, and it's name itself is a reflection of the children's series.
