Date sent: Mar. 7, 2008
Date Received: July 4, 2008

Address Used:

John Travolta
'The Taking of Pelham 123'
Escape Artists
c/o Lacy Boughn
10202 W. Washington Blvd.
Astaire Bldg., 3rd Fl.
Culver City, CA 90232
USA

Sent LOR, SASE, 1-8x10 BW.

Received secretarial back!

I have compared this to a LOT of IP autographs and it doesn't look the same. The IP autographs are more rushed, yes, but the end of Travolta in the authentics is very horizontal. The L, T looping at the end is very horizontal. Mine looks like his sister's signature.

If you access this link to another post, and then look down at the letter that was signed June Travolta, you will see the L, T in her signature is almost identical to mine.

I have to say I am hugely disappointed! {down} I knew that his sister was said to sign through the regular address. That's why I tried VV. I figured it would get to him and I would actually have a good chance of getting an authentic.

Yes, I realize that actors are people too, and that they have a life and need to take a break from it all. If they don't have the time to sign, or don't want to sign that is fine. Then don't. But don't do this secretarial ****. If they didn't sign, yes, I would be disappointed. But no where near as disappointed as getting a fake. That leaves me feeling cheated, and taken advantage of.

My stamps weren't cancelled either. BUT there was a return address label on it with the address:

John Travolta
P.O. Box 3560
Santa Barbara, CA 93130

It appears it was forwarded back to wherever his requests are usually sent to.

First access this link and look at the L, T in his sister's signature in the letter signed June Travolta---click on it to enlarge:

Now look at my L, T:

Nightowl -

Ok!

That helps me out... I posted my success yesterday from him, from that same address, and asked people to let me know what they thought (if it was real or not)... but I only got 1 person to reply. So, thanks for posting this one too...

My success did not come back with a postmark (and my stamps were not cancelled either), so I did not know if they had forwarded it or not. But, since you did the same thing I did, and you got the postmark back, then I know mine was forwarded too. Especially since we got them back within 1 day of each other.

Too bad on this one. I am disappointed too... It makes me respect the actor a little less when they send FAKES back... I would rather have a PP or nothing at all...

You can see the one I got back yesterday on my website. The link is below... But, there's no reason to really look at it because it's the exact same as yours.

I also knew that his sister (i thought it was his mother or wife), but you are right about it being his sister, signed all of the stuff from his "regular address", so I too was hoping that the VV would work... but obviously not...

By the way, your analysis is really good. The L and T in the June sig looks EXACTLY like the L and T in the FAKE Travolta Sig.

Well, anyway, good luck on your next one. By the way, you gotten Heather Graham VV? I was thinking of trying her but didn't see that many success...

Hi NBAFan,

Yes I saw your post as soon as I came into the forum.

My envelope has NO postmark on it. The stamps weren't cancelled. One of those sticky labels with a return address was put on the top left of the envelope. That tells me it was forwarded back to the main office where requests are processed.

Sorry for your disappointment, I guess I don't have say I know how you feel! ;-)

No, I haven't tried Heather Graham myself, but you can go to the top of the page where it says Google custom search in pale writing and type in Heather Graham and all success reports should be in the database. I never thought about it before, do they have vv successes posted in there too? I don't see why not, there should be. That way you can see what kind of results people have had for her in the past.

Unless you meet him in public, where he is an ok signer, you will just get a June Travolta, secretarial back, that is the way it's works.

I bought an in-person signed photo of him, and it doesn't even compare to the TTM replies. His actual writing is more loopy than slanted and pointed in the TTM replies.

Here's what the authentic I have looks like:

I've been convinced for a very long time that all Travolta's TTM replies are secretarial.

Good on you two for not falling for these downright shameful autographs like a lot of others do - it's so blindingly obvious that June Travolta is the one signing. It's very disappointing because John is an amazing actor, and should rather be respectful to his fans and send either an authentic/stamp/autopen/preprint - but not a fake that puts people under false illusions. {down} {down}

My advice to anyone with a TTM Travolta would be to bin it.

Yes, I was aware that his agency replies were secretarial but I didn't think he would go so far as to send his vv requests back to his agency to get his sister to sign them. That was why I deliberately avoided sending to the agency but tried him VV.

I have to say I am extremely disappointed. How many people send to VV anyway? Is it really so many that they can't take a few minutes to sign them?

I was just reading on some web page---don't know who came up with this info---that Travolta is on the list of ten best signers. They obviously aren't referring to VV! Or ttm. And Will Ferrell was on the list of ten worst signers!

This last VV response from Mr. Ferrell has been the best I have seen yet. He has really gone out of his way on this one. He is reading the letters and commenting on them in his inscriptions, sending extra copies of his own photos and personalizing each one to each kid in the family, sending little bags of almonds along as a joke to match the inscription. He is the best signer I have seen so far.

Maybe they were referring to him in person. But I have a really hard time believing that someone that is so extremely awesome in his responses ttm would be the complete opposite in person. It just doesn't gel.

Yes, I was looking at a LOT of his IP on the net and the end of Travolta is more loopy. The loops having a very horizontal appearance. The end of Travolta in mine matches his sister's extremely well. I have even come across an autograph that looked exactly like the way his sister signs Travolta except for the T at the beginning. It was exactly the same! Unbelieveable! And people are selling these as authentic. All people have to do is compare it to IP and the difference is obvious. Even taking into account that IP can be abbreviated and rushed it's still is obvious it's not the same.

Shambler

I agree completely! If he's too busy to sign then okay, don't. Yes I'll be disappointed but that's all part of collecting. If you are going to send something don't make it a secretarial. Send a PP, or AP. I wouldn't want those either, but at least they aren't a fake autograph, they are copies of HIS autograph.

Hi nightowl :D

Sorry for your disappointment :?

I also tried him VV whist he was filming Hairspray in Canada only to have them sent back postmarked from Santa Barbara CA. You can have a look here. It makes the success very suspicious in terms of authenticity, which is the same in your case now.

I guess the best (and safest) bet would be to meet him in person  Anyway, good luck with your future requests!

Does anyone know if 'June Travolta' is a real person? I did some research, and I can't find anyone in his family named 'June'. I'm thinking the secretary may have taken the pen-name Travolta to make herself look like she's related to John, in order to make people she's replying to think she's 'official'.

Good Question!

I never even thought about it until you asked. I thought I would see what I could find out about his family, and so far I have seen this:

Just who is June Travolta? :?
