"Do they count?" Only you can decide that for yourself. My definition insists that they be signed by the celebrity not "signed" by a machine or one (the original) signed and copied (Pre-prints) but I repeat it's up to you if you want pre-prints etc in your collection.
I believe that there is some value in pre-prints in that they can be used to compare and contrast a supposedly authentic autograph when you do not see the item actually being signed.
I have thousands of pre-prints, autopens and secs. (I group them all as fakes) filed away but I do not count them as part of my collection.
