Titles and names - how do I adress them

Unread post by FiercePen »

Hello! I'm just about to write and send a bunch of letters, but unfortunately I'm already stopped before I can begin. See I'm writing to a lot of people in the UK and I'm from Denmark. Now the problem with that is the fact that we don't use titles like Mr. Mrs. or Miss here in Denmark, so I have zero idea of how to adress foreign actors and actresses. Like I will be writing Colin Morgan (young actor) should I write 'Dear Colin Morgan' or 'Dear Mr. Morgan' or something else intirely?

And what about people with their own titles like 'Sir' Ian Mckellen or 'Dame' Maggie Smith, how do I adress them? And when do you call a woman Mrs. or Miss? :)

Hope you'll help me out :D

Hi! I usually write Mr. Craig, Mr. Cocker, Ms. Slick, as it is more respectful and formal. As for the honorific addresses, they must always be used along with the birth name or the full name (e.g. Sir James Paul McCartney, Sir Paul McCartney, or Sir Paul, but never Sir McCartney), according to the formal protocol. Good luck!
