Help: How do i ask person NOT to personalize autograph?

Hi I want to write TTM to someone who usually personalizes the autograph. However, I don't like my name, and I'd rather it just be their signature. i know many people say this is a red flag, that it screams "I will sell this autograph", etc. And most people seem to like it personalized. But I hate my name, imo it detracts from the signed item. Is there a way i could politely ask the signer NOT to personalize it without ruining my success? Any advice, ideas what to write, would be appreciated! Thanks! Im loving this Board by the way, thanks for the great help!

I think you've summed it up yourself there. Making this request will make it sound like you want to sell the autograph and will, in my opinion, reduce your chances of getting a reply at all. I can't think of any way of phrasing this that wouldn't imply the above!

I wouldn’t ask them not to personalize it. It makes you look like a collector. I would just not say anything about it at all. That way they might forget about personalizing it and just sign the picture.

I suppose another option would be to sign your letter illegibly so they can’t tell what your name is.

I’ve gotten a few that didn’t personalize even though I asked them to so it might not be a problem for some of your requests.

The same should apply for SAE/SASE? Then he may not get the autograph at all

You can ask them to personalize in a name you like, or your initials or something....

What you can do is take your name off by removing it . If you send a high glossy photo and they sign it in sharpie There are sharpies that can erase the orginal sharpie.
