Ive been thinking about trying out using IRCs once I get some money and was looking round doing some research on the royal mail website, funnily enough though...the price of them is going to increase.
Please note: The current version of the International Reply Coupon has an expiry date of 31st December 2006. After this date, International Reply Coupons with this expiry date can no longer be exchanged for postage.
A new version of the International Reply Coupon with an expiry date of 31st December 2009 will be available from Post Office branches from the 31st July 2006 and will cost 95p.
at the minute they cost 60p which is about $1, most people send two of these from the UK to cover postage back. at 95p they will be equivalent to about $1.70. SO the question is, will just one of these be enough to cover postage back? cos buying two of them is a bit expensive at the new prices. i could try risking it with old ones, but i dont know how quickly i would get a reply back.
hope all that makes sense!

Hi Mighty_Modders
Regardless of price changes etc ... the general principles of IRC's stil apply.
1 IRC will cover the minimum amount of postage required for a standard sized envelope from one country to another.
If you're sending larger SAE's, 2 IRC's (minimum) will be required to cover postage. However, if you do send 1 IRC, the celebrity may be kind enough to "top up" the extra postage required.
So I guess it's bad news that the price is rising
... I would suggest trying to get a hold of stamps from the country you're sending your requests to instead (which isn't exactly easy)!!

I've just went to the Post Office and asked for 2 IRCs, but because today is the date of the introduction of new IRCs, they didn't have them yet...
Looks like my Paul Rudd and Rip Torn requests are going to have to wait
Thinking about it I really should have went yesterday, could have saved myself a bit of money.

That's too bad Paul ... I guess you'll just have to wait a little longer
Anyway, I did a bit of searching, and this is how the new IRC's should look:

Taken from http://www.upu.int/irc/en/2006_version.html
They'll be valid up until 31 December 2009.
Good luck getting new IRC's Paul
