How come some celebrities sign autographs very quickly sometimes (within a week) and other times take months?

I sent SASE to Jeremy Clarkson in June and still haven't had a reply and somebody on this forum had a success in 7 days.

Well, it all depends on where your letter is in their pile of mail. Sometimes they just grab a handful of letters from the top and answer them, even if those letters just got there that day. It is really luck whether your letter gets picked first.

Sometimes it's just luck of the draw.

When the celebrity's mail comes in, it's probably put in a box or something - with the newest mail at the top and the mail that's come in earlier at the bottom.

From this, some celebrities may choose to answer their mail from the bottom (the first ones that have come in) or the top (the last ones that have come in).

In your instance, Jeremy has probably answered the ones that have come in last, which means that your mail is still probably in the pile somewhere.

I know how annoying this could be. Jeremy will probably get through his mail sooner or later. Since you've only sent your request about 2 months ago, hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer for him to get back to you
