What is a request letter? Is there a formal format of doing one?

Welcome to the forum!

A request letter is simply a fan letter you send off to a particular celebrity to say how much you like their work.

In this letter, you would normally include points such as:

- Who you are and why you write to them
- What you like about their work
- If you would like an autograph, then ask for one
- Thank them for their time etc.

There's no set format of doing one - it's up to the individual to decide how they wish to write and format their letter.

Also, if you are requesting an autograph from the celebrity, remember to include a self addressed, stamped envelope (SASE) with your letter so that the celebrity can send you something back in that envelope.
