Sending letters to the UK...help!

Unread post by LEOx3_LOVE »

I have read a bunch of previous posts about this but I haven't found one yet that has been able to answer my specific question [or maybe I just didn't see it? :)]

I plan on sending to a couple people in the UK & I was wondering how many stamps I should put on my envelope, I read that it costs $1.70? & The next question I have is.. since I'm almost positive that my post office doesn't have IRCs..Is it okay if I just include about 2 US dollars in with it to try and cover the return postage? If I include the money & the SASE do you think I am likely to get a reply? If you guys could help me out, I would really appreciate it! Thank you!

xo; Kelsey

well i also live in the US and last i sent a letter to UK it was only 84 cents for ONE stamp. You could send US money to them. It probably would increase your chances of getting something but it could also depend on the celebrity

Thanks for all your help :D So if I put 2 US stamps on the envelope do you think that will be enough to get it over to Britain? & should I write them a little note on my letter that says my town doesnt sell IRCs & explain what the money is for?

The number of stamps depends on the size of the envelope and the weight of the contents of the envelope. Since you live in the USA, this postage calculator found on the website of the USPS may help:

http://postcalc.usps.gov/

As for sending money, I have found it to yield slightly better results when I include some sort of money as opposed to just a SAE. However, if you could send them British money, it would be presumably better. Good Luck!

yeah its just a standard white envelope with my sase folded up inside with a letter and one 4x6" picture, & I'm sure sending British money would be a lot better but I dont know where I would get a hold of it? I hope I still get a reply if I send US money..& would 2 dollars be good enough?

I personally feel that $2 is plenty. You could go to your local bank and see if you can exchange currency there but it is a bit of a hassel with exchange rates, waiting in line, etc.
