HELP with International Reply Coupons (IRC)

Unread post by gangsta1189 »

can somebody help me, I have never sent to another country before, how much do IRC's cost in the United States? and I am use to using a SASE, so how do you use a SASE in a different counrty, do you just put the IRC's in the envelope, and they go buy stamps with it? Where do you get them from, I dont know where to get them from, and how much money they are????

Thanks

Hi gangsta1189,

When sending IRC's (International Reply Coupons), you must enclose them in your SASE (don't stick them to the front of the envelope). To send a letter to another country, you must first put on enough postage to post it to another country, or your local Post Office will happily stamp the postage on for you. The IRC's are used by the celebrity to send the letters back to you. You can buy IRC's from the Post Office, although not all sell them, so you may have to go to a main Post Office. When sending an SASE, address it how you would in the US, but remember to put the country on the envelope! As I am from the UK, I do not know how much IRC's are in the US, but I think this website may be of some help:

http://www.usps.gov (US) or http://www.royalmail.com (UK)

I hope this information helps, and good luck with sending your letters abroad! {up}

So if I am from the United States, and I am going to write to the UK, I just use normal stamps from the United States, and in my SASE are the IRC's?

Hi gangsta1189,

My advice to you is to take the letter that you are going to post to the UK to your local Post Office. They will then frank the letter, class it as AIRMAIL and it will get to the UK within a week. Sometimes with stamps it can take a lot longer, sometimes up to 8 weeks. Don't worry, it won't cost you anymore. Just remember to include IRC's and your country on the return envelope.

Hope This Helps,
AutographAddict :P

P.S. Good Luck, and by the way what celeb were you thinking of writing to?

Sorry that was me! Just reading your last post again, put the IRC's, your letter and your SASE in your original envelope. That way the celeb will find it easier!

Good Luck!
