Questions About Requesting Autographs

Unread post by justinme »

I have a few questions about requesting autographs from celebrities through the mail.

How do you know it is really signed by that celebrity?

What do you usually put in an envelope to request for an autograph besides the letter?

Where do you find a glossy photo of the celebrity you want an autograph from?

Thanks for helping me out.

Question 1 Answer: It is hard to know. There are people here who would help you figure it out. Most lesser known celebrities sign authentically, but if the person you want to write is more well known, he/she might have a secretary or machine sign them.

Question 2 Answer: Send a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope (sase). I send 9X12 (inches) or a 6X9 if I send a small photo.

Question 3 Answer: Try googling the person's name, check e-bay or look for magazine photos.

Hope this helps!

1. You cannot always tell, but there are many Autograph Experts on here who can help you :) If you want to send to a particular celebrity then you should check the past feedback of that celebrity, which should give you a good idea of the successes from that celebrity :)
2. You should include a S.A.S.E (Self Addressed Stamped Envelope), and to increase your chances of success you can also include a photo :)

3. You can get print outs from many websites such as photobox.com and photobucket.com. You can also get photos printed out at photo labs, or buy posters/postcards :) You can also sent magazine cut-outs if they are good :)

Good luck collecting!

1. You can never be sure. But IPS (In person successes) can help you when you are comparing the photos. As mentioned, lesser known celebrities are better known to sign. Sometimes you can easily tell. For example, a preprint is the exact signature on the same picture. It is printed. A autopen is the exact signature but can be on any picture because it is machine written. The new pen (I can't recall it's name) signs a signature but differently each time. It makes it look like its real. Most celebrities don't use this pen though.

2. SASE, photo, letter

3. Different websites. Make sure they are clear. You can also use magazine posters and pin-ups.

You never really know if TTM (through the mail) autographs are authentic unless there is previous IP autographs match it pretty well. Their are also autograph experts on this site you can ask.

I usually send my own 4x6in picture, or larger, and a SESA.

Various sites sell them, and some users on here will sell you glossy photos, like myself.

What I do is go on altavista and search for pictures of high quality or just go to the celebrity's fansites and print out whatever picture I like that doesn't have a copyright sign :D
