Question on Ms. or Mrs.

Unread post by dmb71vw »

How do people address females in here? It is easy for males cause it is always Mr. But for females it all depends on if they are married or not and most of the time I have no idea if they are married or not.

Sometimes, you should just refer them by their stage name, like Carmen Electra when she was married..she didn't use David Navarro's last name. But like Ashlee Simpson, she now prefers her new name Wentz. I think it depends on the celebrity if they want to be known as something.

That is what I usually do but just didn't know if there was another way to do it. It is also wierd cause I am starting to send to more baseball players that are now younger than me and it is wierd to address them as Mr. but I do anyways.

I always write to them without honorifics, I think it's much more easier.

Hi there,

I usually address the female celebrities as Ms. (whatever their known surname is). It is harder with female celebrities as like you said you are unsure if they are married or not. I think that addressing them as Ms. (then their known surname) or even just writing Dear Madam would do too.

Hope that helped out :mrgreen:

It's also ruder. No offense, but Jack Nicholson once said that the thing he hated most about being a celebrity "was being called Jack".

I don't call them by their first name when writing to them or addressing to them... {nonono}

Hi dmb71vw :D

When I write to a celebrity, on my envelope I always address them as Mr John Doe or Ms Jane Doe unless I know that a person is married in which I will address my envelope as Mrs Jane Doe. However, if I feel more comfortable using Ms Jane Doe as opposed to Mrs when writing to someone, I will use it.

Ms is the default form of address for business correspondence with a woman, so if you're unsure of how to address a female, use Ms.

However as I like to keep my letters in a rather informal tone, my letters are always addressed as Dear John or Dear Jane (no Mr or Ms).

How I have always been doing it is writing Dear Jane Doe at the beggining of the letter. I always put Mr John Doe on all me male letters. Mr brings up another question. I have writing to alot more baseball players now and some are younger than me. Should I still put Mr?

Hi dmb71vw

Well it depends on 'How' young they are i guess... Say if they are under the age of 18, You could use ''Master'' But then again, Mr would do just fine. {thumb2}
