help with us postage

Hi,
I'm out in America at the moment so i bought some first class stamps. I've sent out some fanmail to various people within the USA and on my SASE the address is in England but all I have put on it is the one first class American stamp. Will that still reach me back in England seeing as I haven't put anything on saying Airmail etc?

Nope, sorry. One first class stamp is only worth around 40c, which is not sufficient for even a standard size envelope to be sent to any country outside the U.S. I put three first class stamps on my standard size SASE's. Unless the celeb is kind enough to add more postage for you, unfortunately won't be getting anything back.

But surely with one stamp it would get to me just really slow?

im not sure how it works overseas or if this is what you are talking about but when i put insuffiecient amount of postage on my envelopes, they usually hold it for me at the post office until i come in and pay the remaining amount.

Roughly 55c more on each one - if they're standard size envelopes. Bigger or heavier than that, you'll have to pay more.

I've gotten loads of letters back from the US with just 1 first class stamp or 40c stamp and I'm in Ireland. I've say you've got a very good chance of receiving them back so I wouldn't worry too much {thumb2}

It gives the impression as if Americans aren't so much after checking postage on envelopes at all... When I just think of all the letters I've received on which the stamps haven't been cancelled... That's quite a lot!
