Stamping the IRC's?

This topic made me giggle as soon as I saw the title because I remember what used to happen to me when I used to buy IRC's...... (I say used because I no longer write 'out-of-the-UK' so I no longer require them)

Even though I was a 'regular' at the post office (I often used to go down and buy 5 x £1 stamps and 10 IRC's) I used to spend about 20 mins explaining to the postmistress what an IRC was and what it was used for...... and then when I got it she would forget to stamp it...... so when I was about half way home I'd remember they needed to be stamped so off I went back to the post office!

The people who saw me visiting the post office so many times must have thought I was nicking something! (Of course I wasn't )
