Does anyone know how to screencap DVDs for free? I've spent the last 3 hours trying to find the answer on the internet and typically getting absolutely nowhere. The difficulty is trying to get the quality good enough.

I'm trying to find some recent photos of Betty White in "Golden Girls" but finding it really difficult.
What do you use to watch your videos? I have PowerDVD on my computer and if you hit the "c" key it will "capture" it.

Hope this helped!

I've got a basic version of InterVideo on my computer. I wish i had PowerDVD, but you have to pay for that. :(

Any more ideas?

Ok, here is another way but it is a little more complicated:

When the screen has on it what you want push the “Print screen” button next to the F# buttons on a keyboard. I'm not sure if laptops have this button but I am giving directions from my family computer.

The print screen button has now copied the screen to the clipboard.

Pull up the program "Paint". Now you have two choices, either go up to the tabs at the top click "Edit" then choose "Paste" or the button "ctrl" and also hit "v" at the same time.

That will paste it into paint. You will be able to see what you have copied (it is what the photo will look like)

Now to save it as a photo go up to the tab "File". Click "Save As." It will bring up your photo files. Choose where you want it and what you want to call it. Under the file name is the words "Save as type" click the down arrow and choose "jpeg". Choosing "24-bit bitmap" is also ok.

That should give you the screen capture you want.

I think I explained everything. If you need further help Corradino, feel free to ask. {thumb2}

Hi BossC,

Thanks for explaning all that to me, but that was the first thing i've tried and it doesn't work. I've even been through the business of changing my Hardware Acceleration but then the DVDs wont play.

Any other ideas? :(

I have no idea why that won't work, so I'm out of options.

Well, my dad likes using Screen Capture. You can buy it or there is a free version you can download here: http://wisdom-soft.com/sh/index.htm Other than that I have no clue.

I hope this one works out!

Thanks for all your help BossC i really appreciate it :D, but still no luck for me. Its still a blank picture.

It annoys me to think something so seemingly easy can be so hard.
