Do i have to send a picture to get an autograph?

I'm kinda afraid now when i sent my letter away to Christian Bale and Will Smith.. without any photo. Will they add one??

Hi there

As far as I know Christian Bale only signs if you send pictures with your request.
Will Smith does not sign through the mail at all, so you'd have to get him in person!

I always send photos with my requests along with a SASE (self-addressed stamped envolope)

If you don't get a reply within 5 months, maybe try again including your own picture

It's always best to send a picture just in case, or even just an index card if you are not able to print off pictures.
Most celebrities will provide a picture, but there are some who do not so it's a good idea to include one just in case

Will Smith does not sign through the mail.

If you can't get a picture, your next best option is to send an index card (either a 3x5 card or 4x6).

My reply will be similar.

I usually send a letter of request and get replies. But I felt I was asking too much for them to send a picture AND pay postage. SO I send an SASE and ask for a picture.

Another idea is to send an index card!

I never assume that the star will send me anything. It's a bonus when they do.

Bingo! I don't assume that the celeb will send me anything either. I ALWAYS include a photo or index card. No sense in wasting another .82 cents on postage when you could have tossed in a .25 cent photo the first time.

I only send photos when it's VV (so far it's only been the Jonas Brothers, Jason Statham, and Daniel Radcliffe)

I hate the pictures I print because they always seem to look strange and wierd. I prefer the celebs pictures much better because they are usually better quality. A good portion do have there own photos, but as you read, so celebs do not provide their own picture.

I personally never send a picture to be signed along with my request (except via venue, of course), I only send a letter and SASE. Most celebrities already have photos to send to fans and I actually prefer their photos.

Also, sending your own photo doesn't mean you'll get an authentic signature, on the contrary, it tends to be secretarial nowadays due to the celebrities pre-signing photos. :neutral: So for that reason I'd avoid wasting my money on printing a photo, only to have it returned with a secretarial signature.

But to answer your question, Mr. Bale's publicist specifically asks fans to send a SASE and picture in order to receive an autograph. Although, he's a hit-and-miss, some people receive authentic replies while other receive secretarial autographs. Mr. Smith doesn't reply at all TTM - you'll have to meet him in person.
