Need advice.

Hello everyone. Just joined because I'm on a mission. lol. And I need help to make sure it'll work out without much wasted time, simply because I hate to waste time. Anyhow, I recently bought myself the Shining Lights, Australian Legends of the Screen (2009) book. Anyhow, I bought the book and it features Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe, Geoffrey Rush, and Cate Blanchett. Each actor has their own section in the book and a cover photo for each section. I want to get an autograph from each actor on each of their respective cover photos.

Needless to say, since I'll have to send the book, I want to make sure I do not waste money sending it over and over again. I also don't want to have it returned, because I sent it to the wrong place or whatever, without an autograph. So, can you guys help me out? Any suggestions? Thank you so much in advance.

I think it would be very difficult to get all their signatures without sending over and over again.
Its a really great idea, but when sending items in the post there is a chance it will get lost, the celebrity wont sign where you would like them to and it may get damaged.
One of the only ways is to try and find a film where a few of the people are working together and maybe try to get their autographs via venue.

Regarding Cate Blanchet, the only Feedbacks from the Data Base are from 2005 -- so I wouldn't run the risk to loose the book.

You can send to Mr. Rush a letter in wich you kindly ask him to put a signature upon the page dedicated to him (maybe you can glue a Post-It on it...)

I have to agree with the others. Most those you mentioned do NOT respond to fans through the mail.

My advice would be to keep an eye on movie premiers near you and see if they are scheduled to come anytime soon (or not so soon) and then you can get their autograph IP. Chances are that you would lose the book if you tried to send it to all the cast.

As for the celebrities in question, it is a shame that only Geoffrey Rush would sign via request. I do not think the book would be complete having just that, but he is old and maybe getting his would be the first step, before he goes . So, for another question I ask if you think sending the book to Mr. Rush would be a good idea or should I just forget about it?

If you're not, sending a SASE would be quite expensive and in that case I would prefer a signed pic only...

We just wanted you to know that the people you mentioned do NOT normally sign and you stand a pretty good chance of not getting the book back.

I think Mr. Rush would be more than happy to write where you like him to, as long as you let him know, I'm sure that would not be a problem. He seems to be very nice to his fans. He even paid for the postage on mine, although if I was sending a book, I would definitely make sure I send enough money or stamps if I could get them.

Apparently, Cate Blanchett does sign via venue, and "Nottingham" is due to begin filming in the UK in April, so maybe you could get her to sign it first, and then if you didn't get it back, at least you wouldn't be losing Geoffrey Rush's autograph as well.

Oh my, such helpful advice. Thank you. So, Nottingham (I'm super excited btw) where would I get the address for that and how could I ensure that I would get it back even if they didn't sign it? After all, Nottingham is a movie both Blanchett and Crowe are in I could grab 2. Also, I am from Canada so I need to know what else I'd need to include to make this all go down smoothly. Well there is a thread for addres for Nottingham in the Via Venua request thread section, I myself am waiting for a UK address (I'm pretty new to this VV lark, so I don't have a clue how to find it myself), which hopefully someone who knows these things better than me, will post the information soon.

I'm not quite sure how you would go about getting two signatures, unless you wrote a letter to Cate Blanchett and included the book in the parcel, and then at the end of that letter ask her to pass it onto Russell Crowe, along with another letter addressed to him. Maybe someone else could help you with that.

But you will definitely need to have the correct amount of postage for the return journey, and perhaps package it in a box, which is then inside a box, so they can use the interior box (the one with your own address on it) for them to return. That's really the only way I can think of doing it, or should I say it is what I would do.

Can you buy UK stamps in Canada?
