What do you say?
whats some things you say in your letter's? im having trouble. can someone post a letter on here that they wrote to someone so i can get an idea?
Re: What do you say?
This can sometimes be easy or hard depending on how good you are with words and creativity. When I first started collecting, my letters were HORRIBLE! I basically said: "Hi! I think you’re a great actor. What was your favorite role to play? Can you send me an autographed photo please? Thanks for reading my letter!" Pretty pathetic huh? I did get a few replies back from the letters, but not many.
Now that I'm more experienced and have written literally HUNDREDS of letters so it's very easy for me to sit down and write a nice request. I start out by introducing myself (My name, my age, City and state that I live in). Then I list a few hobbies that I enjoy (Graphic Design, Watching movies, listening to my MP3 etc.) I tend not to list "Autograph Collecting" as one of my hobbies as I don't want them to get them impression that I might try and sell
The signatures I'm requesting at the end of the letter (Which I don't).
After that I let them know that I enjoyed their roles In films that they've been in (I make sure and list a few titles so they know I saw them). Then I tell them that I checked out their IMDB film profile or OFFICIAL site (Make sure to put the web address if it's an official site) and tell them what I liked them most about it, and cool features that I'd like to see them add. If they have some interesting hobby or trivia that I find exciting I'll make a few comments on that too. Usually by this time I've used up the front page of my paper, so then it's onto the back side where I ask for the autograph! LOL! I typically will write it like this:
"If it's okay, I've included some photos, CD/DVD covers, Custom made cards etc. That I hope you can please personalize and sign for my collection. A SASE is enclosed as well, so you don't have to pay for return postage. Thanks so much for taking the time to read my letter. Good luck with all your upcoming projects and future success!! Sincerely, [My name]"
Hope this helps! {thumb2}

Re: What do you say?
Hi Tylersgirl2009 {thumb2}
Here's a little sample of what you can do:
1st Paragraph
Introduce yourself with your name, age and where you are from. Tell them a bit about you but not too much.
2nd Paragraph
Tell the celebrity about them. Some things to talk about are (Some are for singers and actors etc):
* Comment on their acting
* Whats your favourite song on their album?
* Whats your favourite film that they have been in?
* What do they do well?
* What makes them special?
* Who they work well with on set?
* Whats been your favourite storyline?
* How a specific storyline made you feel.
There are so many other things you can tell the celebrity who you are writing to. The ones i mentioned above are what you can say in your letter from your point of view.
3rd Paragraph
Request an autograph politely. Mention your SSAE or any IRCs you have included and if you would like one personalised mention it here. Say thank you
4th Paragraph
Conclude the letter. Perhaps say 'Keep up the great work and best wishes for the future'
Feel free to ask anymore questions {thumb2}

Re: What do you say?
This is what I usually say (I mostly write to actors, so that's who this letter will be geared toward):
Dear Mr./Ms. (actor's last name),
My name is (name) and (something interesting but not too off-the-wall about yourself--I put my age, because I'm still relatively young). (Name of work) is one of my favorite (type of work), and I also think you were great in (name of other work).
If It's not too much trouble, could you do me a favor and please send me an autographed picture? I would cherish it forever. Thanks so much in advance!
Sincerely,
(your name)

Hello Tylersgirl2009,
Welcome to Fanmail.biz! {thumb2}
My letters are different each time so it's hard to say, but really: write from the heart. What films/songs/TV shows etc. of theirs do you love and how has their work affected you/made you feel? it's good to think about that sort of stuff before writing. Obviously those things wouldn't be relevant for all celebrities! The best thing though, is to try to be original, stand out!
Good luck with your letters!
Phoebe

Re: What do you say?
Hello
I always start off with a paragraph introducing myself so the celebrity can learn a little about me.
I then have another paragraph telling them how big a fan I am of theirs, how I became a fan, how long I have been a fan for, any roles/songs that have particular meaning to me etc. Just basically everything I wanna say I just let out in that paragraph!
In the next paragraph I may say my favourite quotes of theirs or talk about a concert I have been to of theirs, just something which shows I am a dedicated fan.
I will then ask 3 or 4 questions which they can answer if they have time. Then have a few lines asking if they can sign my picture and stating that I have enclosed a SASE.
I will then have a closing paragraph where I will just sum it all up and then wish them luck for any new roles/shows/cd's they have coming soon.
