American Stamps

Unread post by Theo67 »

Hello,

I am soon going to be writing to some of my favourite stars across the pond in the United States. My mate was recently on holiday in the states, and brought me back 20 'USA42' stamps to use.

How many of these stamps should I put on my SAE so that it will reach me safely back in the UK?

Thanks for your help people -x-

the price of a first class (standard letter) stamp has recently gone up, it now costs 43 cents to mail a letter in the U.S. I do not mail to England often so do not know the cost to mail there from here. But I do know that I always have to take internartional letters to the post office and just pay what they tell me.

The short answer is that if I were in your position, I would put two 42 cent stamps on the envelope and "hope" that it is enough. If it is not, it will likely be returned for insufficient postage and can be remailed later.

Putting two stamps on a request may cost a little more, but only you can decide if it worth it.

What kind of stamps did he get? If they have the liberty bell on them they are the forever kind which means they are worth 0.44 each. If they are not then they are only worth 0.42

Sending mail in the US depends on the size and weight of the envelope you are sending. If the envelope is a for a 4X6 or 5X7 photo you will need only 0.98 to the UK.

But if it is bigger: you will need 1.20 or more possibly 2.08

Let me know if you need more help. {thumb2}

Hi BossC,

They are 20 US stamps with 'USA42' written along the bottom. They all have famous movies on them and are to celebrate black cinema?

Would 2 on each A5 envelope be enough?

You will need at least 3 of those stamps to get a letter sized envelope to the UK.

Those are worth .42

For a A55 envelope Andy123 is right: you need 3 of the stamps

It must have been heavy! According to the site 5 ounces would cost 4.40--that is more than 3 8X10 photos!
