My post office stopped selling IRCs! Help!

Unread post by mwfan »

Hi! I have been collecting photos to send to different celebrities that live in countries other than North America and recently my post office and other surrounding post offices have stopped selling international reply coupons. I mailed something to someone in France from the U.S. and the lady at the post office put U.S. stamps on both envelopes saying it should work.....but I don't know. Plus, I called the USPS and the customer service rep said that they didn't know what I should do in lieu of IRCs......what do you all think besides putting cash in the envelope?
Thanks!

Hey {up}

You could look to see if anyone is selling or trading IRC's on the Autographs for sale / exchange fourm.
If not then you could post a thread in the Wanted fourm and request some IRC's ;-)

Hope I have helped!

Hi MWFan,

I would say try Paige's suggestion. Alos, sometimes other countries post office may sell you stamps if you call them. I've heard people from Canada and other countries have called the U.S. post office and purchased U.S. stamps over the phone so you might be able to do that for other countries too. You may also want to call USPS back and see if they will sell you IRC's over the phone or if there is a way they could find out which post offices in your area had them.

Also, I believe your post office gave you incorrect information. I had a hard time finding IRC's too (had to go to five different post offices to find them). I asked the manager at all five post offices if I could just use U.S. stamps on my return envelope from a foreign country and they said absolutely not. I even called my local post master and they said the same thing. U.S. stamps won't work if coming from a different country. For future reference, you may not want to do that.

Hope that helps! Any questions, feel free to post.

I agree with RYAN.J,
If for some reason I find myself without IRC's, as you have now,
I include money, and I've never had any problems using that method.
Good Luck!

How can a post office just stop selling IRC's?! This is rediculous! I recommend buying US stamps from the USPS website. {up} Not to disagree with other members, but sending concealed cash is never a good idea, I have been told this from an early age.

I don't agree with the cash method either, especially if you're not sending it in their currency.

And I could be wrong, but isn't the "central" post office in an area required to stock IRCs?

Yes, but not all post offices are employed by intelligent people. It's like talking to a wall when trying to communicate with post office employees.

Do you send in their currency, or US currency

I just send regular US currency. At some time or another these celebs will be over here in the US for filming movies or attending premeires, so they can always bring the cash along to spend at the shops or buy some munchies while they watch their film! :D
