Where to buy IRS

Unread post by dec23rd1986 »

So i went to my local post office today and asked if they sold International Reply Coupons, and they looked at me like i was dumb and a "what the hell is that" face.

?

Please tell me where i can find them? are they the same for all international coutries? and if it helps i need 2 for Spain.

and another question, when i do my SASE, do i take the sticky part off the stamp and paste it on the envelope already set to send off, or do i leave one the sticky part and just use a paper clip for them to see?

i sent 2 SASE to new york and what i did was....
i had to use 2 stamps for each the evelope so i just pulled off half the sticky and put the stamp on and left the rest with the sticky on. That way they can see it and take it off themselves. thanks! hope its not confusing! ha.
im a Newbie at this whole thing!

Yeah...I got a similar response when I asked about them at my post office. Only this lady informed me that she had only ever heard of it during training, as an "Oh by the way, you'll probably never need to know this, but..." thing. I think they're on their way out. I've never even seen one. But I'm pretty sure you can still get them in some larger cities.

As for the stamp thing, you can go ahead and stick them on the envelope.

Most small post officers won't carry IRCs because they're considered outdated and few people use them. You could try checking the main post office serving your area - they're your best bet. Otherwise, maybe someone here could sell you some.

Hi dec23rd1986!

IRC's are becomming harder to find. I had to go to 3 different post offices in my area. You could ask your PO if they can find out which ones in your area have them. You can also check the Autographs for Sale/Exchange forum (http://fanmail.biz/mboard/viewforum.php?f=127) and see if anyone is selling them. You could also try calling the USPS and see if they could sell you some over the phone.

Also, with the SASE, you always want to stick the postage to the envelope. That way the stamps won't get lost and the celeb can just put the autograph in the envlope and send it off.

Hope that helps!

Good luck!

If you want to send currency instead of stamps/IRC the best thing to do is change some dollars into the home currency. Obviously this can be tricky as often countries dont do paper money below 5 (pounds, euros, whatever) and sticking say 2-3 coins in is a bad idea. Changing currency can also be difficult in small amounts so would only be a good idea to do it if you're going to be sending to that country alot.

It would be easier to see if a member here can provide you with IRC or foreign stamps, so check out the Sale/Exchange forum {thumb2}
