IRC - must be stamped to be valid?

Unread post by Scandiaca »

Hello,

please forgive me possibly stupid question, but I recently got to know that when purchasing IRCs, they must be stamped at post office when you buy them in order to be valid.

Is it true?

Because you see, my post office is in a relatively small town and 5 people working there did not know what an IRC is until I showed and explained them... (!). Getting slightly worried, please enlighten me.. I never got anything stamped, just bought the coupons and sent them as they were. ..

- If there is a thread about this from before please post a link, I haven´´ t found it..

Thanks 8)

Please refer here: http://pe.usps.gov/IMM_Archive/HTML/IMM ... c3_025.htm This page will tell you everything you need to know about IRC's. {up} You may want to scroll to the bottom and read everything below the heading labeled "372.4 Processing Requests". Sub-sections (a-c) specifically address your question. Good luck!

Hi! :)
When you purchase a IRC, you should make sure the post office where you purchase it from, stamps the box on the left hand side of the IRC.
But in some countries they will accept IRC's that do not have a stamp, I was told once that in USA they accept unstamped IRC's too. Of course, this is just what someone told me when I was asking so I can not guarantee that's true.
Good luck! {thumb2}

It doesn't haas to be stamped.I live in Hungary.I wrote an e-amil to the Officila Hungarain Post and asked about it and they said there's no need to stamp it 'cause there's something on the IRC which says which country is from or something like that.

I had always been told that they must be stamped, but hopefully yours will go throught ok. :?
Perhaps when you next buy IRCs from this branch you should mention stamping them?

Good luck with your requests! {thumb2}

I was told at the main post office in our country that the IRC doesn't have to be stamped, that the stamp was only neccessary for knowing what country the IRC was bought in (don't ask me why, no idea), and for this case there's now just an abbreviation of the country, like CZ in my country etc. I donj't send IRCs very often anymore, and I can't remember if unstamped IRC was ever a problem for me, sorry.
