Out of a book of about 60- I chose to pick up: Steve Martin, Robin Williams, Charlton Heston, and Burt Lancaster. After doing some minor research, I question the authenticity of all of these. The Steve Martin (in my personal opinion) and the Heston seemed authentic at first check, but when the Williams and Lancaster seemed questionable- I don't trust any of them.
According to the seller, all of the signatures were obtained between '77 and '91, which is where my problems get more complicated. I have no references as to any of these signers' signatures from this time period (from Martin, Williams or Lancaster). I planned on sending these off to PSA/DNA which is what I usually do for authentication, but if my hunch is right- then I'd just be wasting $100.
Basically long story short, I need someone who is an "expert" in this field. I am willing to pay a limited amount for your services, but I am not just looking for someone with the "Autograph Expert" designation on their fanmail profile. Preferably someone who has been collecting for 20+ years or has some experience with "vintage" signatures from these signers. PLEASE PM ME, IF YOU THINK YOU ARE QUALIFIED AND EXPLAIN YOUR JUSTIFICATION, ALONG WITH A VALID EMAIL ADDRESS TO WHICH I CAN EMAIL THE PICTURES.
I would post the pictures here, but from personal experience feel that many members on here would have no better idea as to the authenticity of these [possibly] 20 year old signatures anymore than I can deduce from my own research.
**The Williams raises the biggest flag, as it's not even remotely like the signature in use today (whether secretarial or IP), it doesn't resemble either. It's completely written out. The only justification I can come up with would be a boost in his popularity and the natural progression of a person's signature after so many years of autographs.
--I would post this in the "Is this Authentic?" section of the boards, but 1. I am not uploading scans here, and 2. You don't have to have any experience to post there.
Thanks,
M. H.
