So I'm pretty new to this. I'm trying to put the proper postage on my SASE but I need to know the weight it'll be once there is a picture inside. How much does a picture weigh on average (in grams)?
Also, how do you format the writing on the envelope for the 8x10 (and larger) envelopes? like where do you put the address (in reference to the opening of the envelope)?

Re: How much does a picture weigh?
We need more info on where your from to help determine postage & photo weight, are you in the USA or overseas?? if overseas, what country?
For addressing the envelope, I always put the address right in the middle and my return address in the upper left corner.
Hope that helps!

Re: How much does a picture weigh?
I know how to determine the rest of the cost. Just when the online calculator thing asks me to input weight of Envelope (9x12 with a photo inside) i'm not sure which option to chose. 10-20g, 20-50g,50-100g, 100-200g, etc...
And on the 9x12 envelop, where is the opening supposed to be? left side, right side, top?

Re: How much does a picture weigh?
I just weighed a 8x11 photo in a 9x12 envelope and that was 1.4 ounces, which totals out to 39 grams.
So 20-50g is the option you'd want to choose.
As for opening, you can do it anyway you'd like. I personally like the opening on the left, but I've seen other people do it with the top and right.
