Priority Mail Envelope, Registered mail ?

Unread post by HappyHammie »

Hi,

I would like to know if what are the differences from the priority envelopes and registered mail?
And would I need different types of postage for Priority envelopes? And are they better than the SASE?

Thank you for answering all of my questions, I'm very new to autograph collecting. :D

Well first of all, this hobby can get expensive as it is without all the bells and whistles. Using the Priority and registered mail services would only add to your expenses. As it is, it only takes 3 or 4 days at the most for first class mail to arrive to its destination, so there really is no need for priority mail. And the vast majority of mail will arrive to its destination, which virtually eliminates the need to send a letter out registered.

Neither are good for SASEs, really. I believe that the less they have to do to return your item, the better. I think the postage for a priority mailer has to be paid for at the place where it is being mailed. If I'm right, means someone on the other end has to stand in line at the post office to purchase postage in order to send your item back to you. Even if you include cash for the postage, they may detest having to do so.

I'm not sure if you were thinking to use registered mail on your SASE, but I would advise against that. Once again, it's more work on the other person's end. I prefer to just use a regular envelope for an SASE. This way all they have to do is sign your item, put it in the envelope, seal it, and leave it for the mailman to pick up. No special trips to the post office, and in my mind, a better chance for a success.
