Delayed or Didn't send?

Unread post by TheCollector1992 »

Hello,

About 3 weeks ago, I sent a letter of request to England after sending an email to the individual's management. So today I decided to send another email just to make sure that they recieved the letter, I got an email back saying that they have not received anything yet.

I stupidly forgot to put my address on the back of the envelope incase it did get RTS, but I don't understand what has gone wrong.

I live in Australia.

I know the address I listed was correct.

I included a letter, SASE and 3 IRC's in the envelope in a C4 envelope so it should have been covered by the $2.40 postage that I included on the envelope.

Only thing I can think of is that I may have put "United Kingdom" rather than "England" will this affect the delivery/ time taken to deliver?

Is there any chance that it has just been delayed or should I give up hope and try sending again?

Any assistance you can offer or stories that could reassure me that I may still be successful would be greatly appreciated.

Did you write "AIR MAIL" on the envelope? If not, I'm pretty sure it would go by ship and that can take a lot longer.
I mainly collect voice actor and Disney related autographs-Any questions with Disney successes/addresses? Feel free to PM me!

Writing UK or England wouldn't make any difference.

If it has gone surface instead of airmail then in my experience mail between the UK and Australia can take a very long time, and I'm talking three or four months, sometimes longer. (I used to sell books by mail, and eventually refused to send them to Australia/NZ by surface mail, the longest one took was over eight months).

Well looks like I'm in for a bit longer of a wait then :P Thanks for the help, might see if it's worth sending another one.

Does it take about the same length of time to America because I think I've done the same thing with another request.

As far as I know, all mail going overseas from the US is sent by airmail. It doesn't matter if you write the word "airmail" on the envelope or not. As long as the proper postage is paid, it will be sent airmail.

You've paid the Air Mail rate here in Australia so I seriously doubt it's gone by sea mail.

As far as I am aware, letters will go via Air Mail and parcels will be sent via Air Mail or Sea Mail depending on the method of shipping chosen.

Regardless of whether you've written "United Kingdom" or "England", I'm pretty sure at the end of the day it would have eventually reached its destination.

Your request could just be delayed for some reason though 3 weeks is a lot of time.

My guess is that they may have received your request, but:

1. The person replying to your email was not aware that it had been received
2. A bit confused as you didn't include a reply address - he/she may have thought it was from someone else
3. Been mixed in with other mail for that person or has had quite a large volume of mail received that they didn't check

I wouldn't be too worried at this point. Give it a few weeks/months to see if you get a reply. If not, then try it again with your return address on the envelope.

Good luck!
