I think you mean putting a 6X9 SASE in a 9X12 envelope. You will need 63 cents for the 9X12 and the 6X9 will need 52 cents. But this all depends on where you are sending the letter to. Here is a handy postage calculator:
http://postcalc.usps.gov/.
Hope this helps!

Unless I just horribly confused myself, Aren't 9X12's larger than 6X9's? From CA to CA its 52 cents.

 That totally slipped my mind.
In that case 53 cents on the 6X9 and 60 cents on the 9X12. Although I would advise adding a bit more postage on the return SASE in case the celebrity wants to include something extra.

So basically 2 stamps on each would do it? I was wondering about that myself, but I'm sending a 10x13 and a 9x12 with photo and letter. I would do it at the post office but I didn't know they close at noon on Saturday. They're going from Illinois to California.

my first question is...how do you know the weight of the letter...if i were to fold a 9x12 into a 6x9? or putting a 9x12 in a 9x12?

second, is it bad to just write a letter and include two stamps within the letter, and no SAE??

Hi soapfan :D

Welcome to the forum!

If you want to know the weight of the envelopes, I would suggest taking it to your local post office to get it weighed - that way, you can also purchase the right amount of postage for your letter.

I don't recommend you just write a letter and include two stamps though, as the stamps are small and can fall out/get lost. The point of sending a SASE is to make it as easy as possible for the celebrity to return something. Celebrities may receive hundreds of requests, so they may not realise that you have sent stamps, and thereby won't return something to you.
