Hi there!!!!
When I write to celebrities, I never send a SASE. I ususally put my address at the bottom of the letter. I hope that answeres your question. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Actually you are gonna get mixed reviews on that matter. I personally always send a sase I feel it betters my chances of getting something back. Some dont see it that way. It is really all up to you and what you feel is right to do.

I agree with Ozzman. Usually celebrities are extremely busy with their fanmail and don't have time to address thousands of letters. By including an SASE it would save the celebrity time and money. Some may say that the celebrities themselves are rich, but over time the cents can add up. Also in my personal experiences, I find that by including an SASE you will get an increased chance of a response and a slightly faster response time. Also an astronaut friend of mine once told me that he is usually so caught up with fanmail/autograph requests/etc. that it is necessary for him to trash letters/requests that arrive without an SASE. :( I hope this helps you cougars!

Hi again Courgars!!!
I have been reading the two other replies that you got to this message. I also agree with Cernan and Ozzman with what they say too. I is also good to send SASEs do to the fact that some celebrities are busy. Others will answer with out a SASE. So I'm saying that it's up to you if you want to send SASEs or not.

SASE's increases your chances of receiving a reply.

Celebrities may receive hundreds and hundreds of letters a day/week/year. They may not have time to read every single letter, let alone sign photos, address envelopes or buying stamps.

You have to appreciate how much money answering fan mail costs celebrities in the first place. There will probably be assistants, the celebrity him/herself and a stack of photos. If a celebrity was to receive a few hundred requests without SASE's, how much in terms of envelopes and stamps will that cost (especially to those who live overseas?) A lot of money.

That is where the SASE comes in. It will make it much more easier for the celebrity to return something to you, and will reduce costs on their part. There are many celebrities out there who won't send anything back without an SASE, so I strongly recommend you to send one with your request.

Hi guys {up}

All I would say on the matter is that SASE's DO increase your chances of a positive response. I know many celebrities will reply to you without you paying the return postage, but there are many many more who will not :wink:

Just as a test last year I sent out 50 requests without SASE's, and I got back about 5 of them. A few months later I mailed the same 50 with SASE's and got 40+ responses.

If you can afford to send out an SASE then I would definately advise you to :P

I know for a fact that some celebrities only reply when they are sent a SASE. Also, for me personally, I think it is only fair to send a SASE. The celeb is taking the time to sign a photo for me so I don't think that they should also cover the shipping costs. I think it is only polite to take care of the shipping.

Hello!!

It would really depend on the celebrity I think!!Sometimes when you do send an SAE it does increase the chance of you getting a response back,but there are some celebs who still send you their autograph even if you didn't send and SAE and even pay for postage!! :D {thumb2} :mrgreen: Which I think is such a kind and generous thing to do!!

I always include SAE's though because the celebrity is taking the time out of their very busy schedule to read your letter so why not leave them all the trouble of paying for the postage when you can help them out by sending your own!! :wink: :mrgreen: I hope this helped your question!! :D {up}

Stacey :D
