I am afraid (as you have already found out ), you cannot buy IRC's in the UK online.

You have to go to a post office to buy them. However I get around this by buying US stamps via the US postal service website, and they mail them to the UK. I then attach stamps to my SAE's just the same as I would posting locally.

Unfortunately you are right :neutral:

With the online UK postage payment (or indeed with the SmartStamp pc based stamp printing software) the Royal Mail set a post by date of 2 days after you print it.

Therefore there is no point using this method to pay for your SAE's as the postage will be out of date before the celeb even gets your letter The Royal Mail are very hot on exceeding this post by date as well. . . . I have had a few letters returned to me because I forgot to post them straight away, and exceeded the set postage date.

Anyway, you would only be able to use it for requests you send out within the UK, as the postage would not be valid for posting back to the UK from overseas.

It is safer to stick to good old stamps for your SASEs in the UK, and but some US stamps for SASEs from the USA.
