4x6 photos - ideal resolution?

What's the ideal resolution for a 4x6? In order to get a crystal clear picture when I take it to be printed? I've had to throw so many photos away already, due to them looking massive on screen, but blurry in the final product.

When I look on google images, I simply go advanced image search and click on size extra large, that gives crystal clear results even for A4! So if you really want, you can go down to large, and there will still be plenty of good pics available, the only problem might be cropping.
Good luck!

I would say 600x400 for OK prints.

700x500 for good prints.

800x600 for very good.

Anything above for Great...

Athough, I would also say it is also where you get them printed. I once got a photo printed at a local printers which came out terrible, but online with snapfish it came out excelent! :?

Hope that helped.

Robert.

My resolution that I use for my custom 4x6 photos is 850 X 1250. They print off perfectly!! {thumb2}

Thanks for your help everyone! {thumb2} I always print my photos at a store, so the guidelines you've given me will really help me out the next time I go.

I tend to use 1024 x 768 for mine :)
