I live in the US so do i have to put in a SASE?

You don't always have to put in an SASE, but it increases your chances of getting a reply.

If you live in the same country then I would be inclined to include a SASE wherever possible.

If you were sending something abroad, then the person might understand that it would have been difficult for you to get hold of an IRC or the correct stamps.

But if you have the correct stamps available to you, then if you can afford to include them it will greatly increase your chances of getting something back.
